WebCT
WebCT is a Learning Management System used by the University of Houston as a means of delivering online material. WebCT provides a comprehensive array of tools, allowing not only online interaction between faculty and students but also between student and student.
Among other tools, WebCT allows tracking of students in the course, allows students to submit and receive assignments, and administers quizzes which can be automatically graded and posted within WebCT. The communication tools allow the interaction that is vital to a successful online experience for the students.
WebCT enables faculty a way to put their material online behind a password protected wall, allowing protection of privacy and integrity of material. The password protected grade release adheres to FERPA (The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) regulated guidelines for student privacy.
WebCT VISTA is a version of WebCT released Spring 2004 on the University of Houston campus. The difference between WebCT Campus Edition and Vista amounts to enhanced tool functions and better administrative support.
