E.T.U.O. Services
Faculty Support
E.T.U.O. provides support for U.H. faculty in several areas:
Instructional design
E.T.U.O. provides instructional design support and faculty development opportunities for those interested in integrating technology in the delivery of their instruction.
Faculty development grants
E.T.U.O. grants faculty development funds on a competitive basis to individual faculty. Faculty Development Initiative grants are awarded to individual faculty, faculty teams, and colleges on a competitive basis. Grants range from $4000 (individual faculty) to $25,000 (faculty teams) to $100,000 + (colleges). In addition, E.T.U.O. provides grants to faculty or departments involved in distance learning.
Distance education funding
E.T.U.O. gives funds to colleges/departments that can be used to provide instructional support for Distance Education and technology enhanced courses. These funds may be used for needed hardware/software, TA’s, staff support and other uses identified by the academic colleges and departments consistent with UH and ETUO policy.
Distance Education
E.T.U.O. schedules all distance delivered courses in consultation with academic colleges and reports all off-campus activity to Coordinating Board and other agencies as needed.
Faculty compensation
E.T.U.O. may provide compensation to faculty teaching upper-division or graduate-level distance education courses as an overload or as adjuncts. Overloads must be confined by academic departments and approved by Academic Affairs. E.T.U.O. must approve compensated overloads in advance to insure availability of instructional dollars. Priority will be given to courses offered in areas where U.H. has program authority for off-campus delivery.
Television studio and broadcast time
E.T.U.O. schedules I.T.V. studios and broadcast time on K.U.H.T./Cable as needed. Schedules distance learning orientation prior to the beginning of the semester and arranges for other class meetings (for exams, recitation, etc.) as requested.
Videotape/DVD production
E.T.U.O. produces tapes and DVDs for courses offered through this electronic mode.
